Smart gamblers know that you can never have too much information.  Whatever your choice is to place your bet on, research that team and learn as much as you can about the players, their performance and history. If you are new to sports betting, you might feel that the odds, bookies and point spread can be a bit confusing.

Once you understand it all, it is really not as complex as you might think – it’s actually surprising how easy it is.

Betting on a sport goes way back in history. Horse racing, fighting and cockfighting were bet on by the colonists and they brought it with them from England.  The most popular sport that was bet on was horse racing, followed closely by boxing.  Then baseball became popular and by 1919 we had the World Series and some might refer to this as the Black Sox Scandal.

By the 20th century, football and basketball had caught the public eye and soon they rivaled the game of baseball. No matter what sport you choose to bet on, you will first make sure you know all you can about it and then use that knowledge, and maybe tips from friends, to place a wise bet.
