Justine Henin poised for an impressive run at AO 2010

justine-henin-photo Justine Henin has recently made her comeback to the WTA tour. The Belgian star, former World Number 1, had officially retired from the professional tennis stage in May 2008 after winning 9 Grand Slam events and collecting a total of nearly $20 mil in tennis prize money.

The 27-year-old tennis star announced her comeback last autumn after Kim Clijsters, US Open triumph. Kim had proved that successful comebacks are possible in women’s tennis as she won US Open 2009 after staying 3 years away from tennis.

Henin is playing this week the Brisbane International tennis tournament to warm-up for the big challenge of the Australian Open. She already reached the final where she will clash against arch rival Kim Clijsters. Both stars have set their goal on winning the Aussie Open. Read more

Spain favorite to win World Cup 2010

Federer and Nadal are on collision course in Doha

nadal-vs-federer Two of the worlds best tennis players are on collision course. Both play this week’s ATP Doha 250 tournament. The competition has currently reached the semifinal phase with both Federer and Nadal left in the race for the title.

The Qatar Exxon Mobil Open is the last chance for the stars to warm-up for the first Grand Slam event of the season, the Australian Open. Events at the Melbourne Park debut on January 18 and 2 weeks later we should know the winner of edition 2010.

Nadal and Federer last clashed in May last year, during the Madrid Masters final. Roger Federer won the title although the overall head-to-head stats show 13-7 for the Spaniard. Nadal’s last win over the current World Number 1 was in Melbourne, almost 1 year ago. Rafa won the Australian Open and sent the Swiss Champion in tears after a heavily commented award ceremony.
